A local-first, encrypted markdown editor

OriginText is built around a real markdown editing experience — CodeMirror 6 under the hood, live preview, and a workspace that stays on your device and never touches a cloud server you don’t control.

A real markdown IDE

The editor is powered by CodeMirror 6 with full syntax highlighting for headings, bold, italic, code blocks, and links. Open multiple notes side-by-side in split view, switch between raw markdown and a rendered live preview, or span the full canvas with a single focused writing pane. Keyboard shortcuts work the way you expect; the toolbar fills in anything you forget.

Yours and private

Every note is encrypted on your device before it ever leaves it. Local-first storage means the editor works with no internet — your writing is never at the mercy of a cloud service. There is no unencrypted copy of your notes on our servers; we literally cannot read them.

Linked, not just written

Type [[ to link any note to another with a wikilink. Every link you create is reflected live in the knowledge graph — a force-directed map of how your ideas connect. Backlinks show every note that references the one you’re reading. Over time, patterns emerge that a flat list of files never reveals.
